Stable Analytics brings modern engineering and data science into the traditional world of horse racing. From wearable biometric sensors for safety monitoring to data-driven pedigree modeling to determine optimal racetrack outcomes, Stable Analytics looks to elevate every aspect of managing a racehorse with modern techniques.
Detecting and managing musculoskeletal injuries in racehorses
We are building the world's most advanced horse racing monitoring and management platform so that no horse ever suffers a preventable injury. Owners and trainers get a dashboard to help make empowered decisions about horse training, diagnostics, and clinical care recommendations.
Machine learning meets thoroughbred breeding
We are using unique machine learning techniques to analyze Thoroughbred pedigree, including ancestor mtDNA haplotype and race performance, to optimize matings for your goals. Our proprietary algorithms consider an individual customer's breeding target, such as desired running surface and distance, to select optimal matings.
CEO
Ben Bernhard holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a Master's in Space Engineering from Caltech. He served as a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer for two years at SpaceX, leading mission design for numerous Falcon rocket launches. Transitioning to Vice President of Pin Oak Stud, he aimed to integrate data-driven solutions into the farm's operations. Identifying a significant technology gap, he launched Stable Analytics to develop modern engineering and data science solutions for the thoroughbred industry, with Pin Oak Stud as its first client.
Director of R&D
Byron Rogers has extensive experience in the thoroughbred industry, including eight years at Arrowfield Stud, Australia, where he contributed to the success of leading sire Redoute’s Choice. He later joined Taylor Made Farm in Kentucky as the director of the stallion division, managing prominent sires such as Unbridled’s Song and Forestry. In 2009, he co-founded TrueNicks LLC, a world-leading nick pedigree rating and Pedigree Consultants LLC, followed in 2011 by Performance Genetics LLC an analytics company that built predictive models for the thoroughbred industry. In 2024, he became Director of Research and Development at Stable Analytics LLC.
Director of Engineering
Dr. Tim McGrath’s graduate research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (S.M. 2017, Ph.D. 2020) focused on the development of next generation, unintrusive wearable sensors for human performance. In 2017, he founded a company to commercialize advanced wearables in the human sports performance and therapeutic rehabilitation spaces. Later, in 2021, he joined NASA to build wearables for space suit applications and would go on to develop biomedical data science platforms for next-generation Mars missions. He brought this unique expertise in wearables and data science to Stable Analytics in 2024 to pioneer techniques within the equine injury and performance domain.
